The Radiographic Characteristics in Sleep-Disordered Breathing Patients

Abstract
Objective : The objectives was to compare the measurement on skull lateral projection, skull posteroanterior projection, and lateral cephalogram in normal control group and Sleep-disordered breathing(SDB) group.
Material and methods : A prospective study of 20 adult group with SDB and 24 normal control group was done. The skull lateral projection, skull posteroanterior projection, and lateral cephalometric indexes were measured to assess skeletal structures, dental structures, and velopharyngeal anatomic features.
Results : The compromised radiographic parameters that may be found in patients with SDB include dental convexity, SPAS, minimum PAS, PNS-P, and minimum transverse diameter of posterior airway space.
Conclusion : SDB is associated with structural changes in a number of radiologic mesurements. The analysis of the skull lateral projection and skull posteroanterior projection may provide some informations regarding the prediction of the SDB.
